Vinous 94+
Fresh, dark ruby-red. Dusty, liqueur-like aromas of black cherry and cassis, with a scotch-like hint of oak. Sensuous and silky in the mouth; superripe but quite bright, thanks to sound supporting acids. A bit more sharply delineated than the above. Very youthful wine, finishing with a slow-building, very long aftertaste. Tannins are substantial but fine-grained.

The 1996 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa is an elegant, medium-bodied example with more tannin than most regular bottlings (a characteristic of the vintage). This structured wine offers weedy black currant fruit, subtle oak, and a well-built, concentrated finish. About 8% Cabernet Franc was added to the blend.
