The 2015 Nuits Saint-Georges 1er Cru has a comparatively exotic bouquet of red fruit infused with figs and dates; hints of maraschino cherries emerge with aeration, along with some unwanted acetone notes. The palate is medium-bodied with supple, fleshy red berry fruit laced with marmalade and light brown spice notes. The finish is just a tad drier than I was hoping for after the nose. This is a vexing showing, although Maxime Chuerlin’s Les Beaux Monts is much better. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.
