Verkostungsnotizen
Vinous 93
The 2016 L’If has a more cohesive bouquet than the ’16 Quintus: bright blackberry and boysenberry fruit, well defined, and here the oak is well integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, very smooth and lithe, with well-judged acidity and sufficient bite and sapidity on the finish to tempt you back. Tasted blind at the Southwold 10-Year-On tasting.
Anticipated maturity: 2027-2047
Robert Parker 94
Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 L’If is a little shy to begin, opening out to show a beautiful red and black plums, kirsch and rose-laced personality, plus hints of tobacco and wild sage. Medium to full-bodied, the palate offers beautifully ripe, satiny tannins and wonderful freshness supporting the elegant, perfumed fruits through the long finish.
Anticipated maturity: 2020-2038
