"The 2017 Saarburger Rausch Riesling Auslese (AP #5) is even more intense on the nose than the gorgeous Spatlese (AP #5). Raisin and grapefruit aromas on the nose intermix with very fine (and refreshing) slate aromas (I am thinking of weathered red slate, but this is the Rausch, and red is only a shade of gray here). Lush and round on the palate, this is a highly delicate and salty-piquant Riesling Auslese with gorgeous tropical fruit aromas. The finish is so fine and tensioned, full of juicy Riesling fruit, salt and very fine minerals. A gorgeous wine. Tasted as a sample in March 2018."
