Verkostungsnotizen
Robert Parker 92-93
The 2022 Pinot Noir Jenins Alte Reben shows a fragrant, quite intense yet elegant and even delicate bouquet of ripe and juicy red and dark fruits such as raspberries, blackberries and red cherries intertwined with spicy notes from the oriental market. Fresh and spicy on the palate, this is a straight, firm and intense, fresh and aromatic, very stimulating and characterful Pinot with fine and grippy tannins. This very promising Pinot has stimulating astringency and a cassis aroma. Assembled in November, this is a remarkably delicate and refreshing Pinot, especially for the warm vintage. When I tasted this at the domaine in March 2024, it was scheduled to be bottled in early spring. This wine is based on the fruit of rot-prone but acid-stable Swiss clones planted in 1958 and later. The vineyard is located above the road on rather permeable, sandy soils. The grapes were harvested at 95 Oechsle. They are destemmed, and depending on the year, 10% whole bunches are added to the wine. The grapes are first cold-macerated at five degrees for two weeks, and fermentation begins spontaneously with natural yeasts with occasional punch-downs. Must and skins remain together for five days after fermentation is complete, for a total of around 14 days, before pressing. About 15% of the juice has already been extracted (saignee). In November, the young wine is placed in barriques for one year and undergoes malolactic fermentation in spring if possible (sometimes, as in 2023, immediately after or even during alcoholic fermentation).
Anticipated maturity: 2025-2040
